4. Description: Supported Employment Service. The awarding authority is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced organisations to provide a Supported Employment Service for disabled people which will include delivery of the Councils WORKSTEP contract with the Department of Work and Pensions.
The service provider will successfully deliver the Workstep programme, which has two distinct models of delivery one is via a supported business at the Cedar Road Factory, Balby, Doncaster, and the other is through facilitation of supported work placements.
The Department of Work and Pensions are currently looking at revising the way the Workstep and associated Supported Employment services operate and there is no guarantee that funding will be available beyond 31 September 2009.
The contract will run from 1 October 2008 for a period of one year with an option to extend for a further year.
Interested organisations must be aware that TUPE will apply. The successful tenderer will be required to enter into a lease agreement for the supported employment workplace with the Council.
