Success Doncaster (LEGI) Business Start-Ups and Mentoring

Doncaster’s Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) Programme, Success Doncaster, has ambitious plans to transform the local culture of enterprise.

Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council requires suitably qualified, experienced and dynamic organisations to deliver the following strands of the Success Doncaster programme.  

Business Start-Ups and Mentoring (Contract reference number DMBC/07 6141)

Success Doncaster seeks to harness the talent and potential of our communities. Success Doncaster creates fresh, innovative and inclusive approach that will compliment the existing mainstream business focused support available. (Mainstream support includes Business Link and The Chamber of Commerce). The programme aims to create a culture of responsibility through self-reliant individuals, self-reliant households and self-reliant communities.

Anyone wishing to go into self-employment or start-up a business within Doncaster is eligible for support from this project. The Business Start Up and Mentoring programme has been developed to complement and add value to existing business support. The Start Up programme is being delivered across the following 5 themes and tenderers are invited to bid for one or more of these;

1. Arts Creative and Digital Industries (CDI)

To link into the Borough’s creative skills and fulfil the potential in the creative and digital industries sector by encouraging direct employment, growth of existing businesses, new business start-ups and a higher profile, locally, regionally and nationally.

2. Generic

We require suitably qualified and experienced organisations to deliver a non sector specific specialist business Start Up and Mentoring Programme in Doncaster that will complement, add value and link to existing business support including Business Link and the actions delivered as part of Yorkshire Forward’s single programme and Regional Economic Strategy.

3. Social Enterprise

The simplest definition of social enterprise is a business trading for a social purpose. We require an organisation to deliver a Business Start Up and Mentoring Programme in Doncaster for social enterprise that will complement, add value and link to existing business support including Business Link and the actions delivered as part of Yorkshire Forward’s single programme and Regional Economic Strategy.

4. Youth and Third Age (over 50 years old)

We invite detailed proposals from suitably qualified and experienced organisations to deliver a specialist Youth and Third age business start-up and support programme in Doncaster. We require an organisation to deliver a Business Start Up and Mentoring Programme in Doncaster that will complement, add value and link to existing business support including Business Link and the actions delivered as part of Yorkshire Forward’s single programme and Regional Economic Strategy.

5. Black and Minority Ethnic (BME)

We require detailed proposals from suitably qualified and experienced organisations to deliver a specialist business start-up and support programme for the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) sector in Doncaster.
