Expected date ITTs will be issued by 21-Feb-2008
In September 2007, the awarding authority announced £11.5m funding for financial capability in schools. A significant proportion of this funding has been set aside to develop a high quality and flexible 3-year programme of support to schools.
The Department is currently tendering for a contractor to develop and manage this programme (contract award expected April 2008). The detailed delivery plans for the programme of support will be for the successful contractor to determine. However, it is expected that service delivery will fall into 3 key areas:
- Developing the capacity of Local Authorities and those working with schools to support this area of the curriculum effectively;
- Providing materials, training and support to schools, with a particular focus on the Child Trust Fund at primary level;
- Developing and delivering a communications strategy to raise the profile of personal financial education, including an annual themed activity week
The Department wishes to evaluate the impact of this programme on children and young people, schools, local authorities and other stakeholders and identify which elements of the programme have been most successful in developing the financial capability of children and young people.
The evaluation is expected to run from April 2008 to December 2011
