Food AWARE re-commenced surplus food deliveries to the Nether Hall Area in Doncaster following huge demand for the scheme.
9th June 2010
Nether Hall Area CIC had recently contacted Food AWARE following volunteers expressing an interest in forming a 'mini Food AWARE' for the exclusive benefit of their local residents. The surplus food redistribution scheme sadly ended in Doncaster on 31st March due to lack of funding support and the lapse in service has had a noticeable adverse impact on the local community.
Again by special arrangement, Food AWARE have returned to Nether Hall Area and you can see the relief and happiness on the faces of the keen and committed volunteers. Apples, plums, grapes, soup, bread and lots of sandwiches and pastries (thanks to Cooplands Doncaster) were well received and around 50 local residents will be enjoying their food parcel as we speak at just a £1 donation!
Weekly deliveries will continue every Wednesday afternoon whilst the old Food AWARE delivery vehicle keeps doing the business!
