Doncaster Little Theatre Presents: 'Blood Brothers’ by Willy Russell
14th June 2010
‘Blood Brothers’ by Willy Russell
Doncaster Little Theatre is aiming for an unusual twist in this favourite production which brings the summer season to a sizzling close.
A captivating and unforgettable story set in Liverpool, it tells of twins separated at birth but whose paths cross in later life with the most tragic of consequences. A single mother in financial desperation gives away one of her new-born sons and attempts to keep them from discovering one another’s true identity. However, their lives become unavoidably linked. Mickey and Eddie grow up as friends in ignorance of their fraternity. The pressures of class trap them both, sealing their fate.
The twist? – The two brothers are being played by two different actors on alternate nights. Danny Glover and Jon Wright play both Mickey and Eddie. A real challenge for both actors, which might even make it worth a second visit!
This powerful and moving play about superstition, friendship and love will capture your heart and leave a lasting impression. Brilliantly funny and yet tragically moving, Blood Brothers has touched the hearts and minds of a generation.
Blood Brothers, is directed by Malcolm Beasley and the cast also includes Laura Roberts, Cassie Gravel, Janet Rimmer, Marcus Kinsella, Phil Hazelby, Caroline Avis, Sue Hardaker and Heather Smith. Please note this is the original play version of the hit West End musical.
