Specialist Support to Plan & Implement a Programme of Consultation Events with Community Stakeholders for Doncaster's Local Strategic Partnership

22nd June 2007

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Doncaster’s Local Strategic Partnership

DtS Network programme of events 2007/8

The DtS Board requires specialist support to plan and implement a programme of consultation events with community stakeholders.

The programme of events for 2007/8 will be branded as ‘The DtS Network’ and through innovative approaches including use of creative arts, will specifically address the cross-cutting and stronger & sustainable priorities of Doncaster’s Shared priorities with the overall objective of:

Enabling citizens to contribute towards the development of a more sustainable Borough by informing and shaping delivery of future services, initiatives and opportunities.

The key objectives of the events will be

  • to seek community feedback on what the various barriers / issues are to a series of thematic priorities within the Local Area Agreement, which will assist the DtS Board when commissioning activity designed to deliver and achieve the LAA priorities and targets.
  • to raise awareness of the variety of services and interventions available
  • to enable local communities to contribute to various consultations being undertaken from time to time.

The purpose of the events will be to start a process of engagement with communities around a series of priorities in order that local people can influence and provide feedback on issues that relate to each event.  Through a continued process of dialogue this will form part of a longer-term strategy through which the DtS Board will look to commission solutions and report progress to the Network

Each event will focus on one of the following issues with an expectation that the brief provided for each, will be further developed to ensure linkages are made across the programme and maximum opportunities are provided for community engagement and achieving positive outcomes. Whilst some events will by their nature be targeted towards specific groups / localities, clear evidence must be provided to ensure an inclusive community approach is adopted across the programme.

The themes for the 4 events are as follows and these are offered as working titles with the expectation that each will be suitably branded for wider communication:

·               Your Local Environment

·               Tackling Inequalities

·               Promoting Employment Opportunities

·               Cohesion and Neighbourhoods

Desired outcomes for each event will be inclusive of the following:

·               To enable residents/community & voluntary sector groups to influence priorities in future service delivery and development of key strategies

·               To demonstrate to residents how service deliverers respond to the issues that are important to citizens in Doncaster

The DtS Board invites organisations with appropriate skills, experience and flair to submit a quotation to plan and deliver the above programme of activities – in partnership with DtS Board and lead agencies within its Thematic Partnerships.

You will report to a multi-agency steering group established by the DtS Board and will plan and implement 4 events, which are linked to one another and offer sufficient flexibility in style and delivery to encourage wide support and engagement from local citizens, whether part of a community / voluntary sector group or not.

The successful tender will need to demonstrate capacity to fulfil this brief, demonstrating successful working on similar tasks either currently or in the past and an initial outline of what each event might involve.

DMBC, CEN and other relevant agencies will offer staff support to the successful tenderer to assist in the planning and implementation of the events as an in kind contribution.  The nature of this support will need to be agreed between the successful tenderer and the relevant agencies.

If you are interested in working with the DtS Board in developing this exciting programme of activities please contact Angie Goodwin in writing by noon on the 6th July 2007 to express an interest.  The tender specification will be issued to those organisations that have expressed an interest w/c 9th July 2007 with a closing date of 6 August 2007 for submission of tenders.

Expressions of interest should be sent to Angie Goodwin, Doncaster MBC, Denison House, 15 South Parade, Doncaster, DN1 2DR.  Expressions of interest must be received by noon on 6th July 2007.
