Xmas Fayre – 6th Dec 2008

We hope you will agree that this forthcoming event is a Good News Story.

Rossington people, with the support of many organisations have worked hard to bring Holmescarr School back into service as a Community Enterprise Centre. It is to be re-launched at a Xmas Fayre on Saturday 6th December (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

On arrival, people will be encouraged to have a non-alcoholic drink of hot Toddy or Punch and a mince pie.

A benefactor has donated Xmas lights that will be switched on in the evenings from the 1st Dec where they can be seen from the roadside to attract people’s attention to a revitalised Holmescarr.

The main hall has been restored and will have 18 spaces where interested people and organisations can sell items and advertise their activities.

The Community Centre will be operational in several classrooms to provide professional entertainment for all ages including Punch & Judy shows and conjuring, yet other classrooms will be used for crafts such as card making, face painting, Indian artistic painting on hands and pottery decorating. There will be a novel Sensory Father Xmas Grotto (First time ever seen in UK – made by a local company, Sensory UK) that will attract all children, the healthy and the less fortunate Photographs of children with Father Xmas giving them presents will be taken and printed on the day.

There will be display areas in the corridors, which organisations can use to advertise their activities in this part of Doncaster.

The Xmas Fayre will also publicise the “International week for disabled people” and a[so the organisations providing a service to such people. These organisations are being encouraged to put on a display or to have a stall in the hall. Come and see how modern technology in the Sensory Grotto and presents are helping these young people.

We will also be drawing attention to the various activities happening regularly in Rossington.

We want it to be fun for all and to launch the Christmas Spirit as well as to show what a good community asset Rossington now has.
