You may recall that we invited you to the:
Discover Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI)
This was on Thursday 13 July 2006 at the Bullcroft Memorial Hall at Carcroft . A Presentation was delivered by Paul Hammond, of Meridienpure , and was followed by workshops to discuss the issues arising from the presentation. (See Presentation)
The aims of LEGI are supported by three national-level outcomes:
- To increase total entrepreneurial activity among the population in deprived local areas;
- To support the sustainable growth and reduce the failure rate of locally-owned business in deprived areas;
- To attract appropriate investment and franchising into deprived areas, making use of local labour resources.
The Workshop findings (see Workshop Overview) were then presented and discussed with those assembled from the 'Cross-Sector' Consultation meeting, held at The Dome, the following morning (14 July 2006).
Feedback from the larger LEGI Group consultation confirmed the general belief that there is currently a lot of good practise within the Voluntary/Community Sector. The intention is to develop a Model which will encompass the good practise already existing within the Sector. This will be presented at the next Stakeholder LEGI meeting.
Our understanding is that Meridienpure are preparing an initial Paper on the contents of the application this week, and we will hopefully have sight of this document some time next week.
